Some history:
I began carpentry in 1967, as a laborer for a crew rebuilding our family restaurant recently destroyed by fire. I loved being able to build something from a pile of lumber, and be proud of the product and the work that went into it. After graduation and college, auto and diesel mechanics, and broiler chef/restaurant management for our family business, I took the opportunity to apprentice for a builder friend and carpenter. Through this time, it became apparent to me this was my life's work and I was particularly suited for it. After working a 45 minute drive each way for a year, I decided it was time to start my own business. Enter Joseph A. Vento Construction, established December 26th, 1974. Through the next 35 years, we have two grandsons and four grown children I am proud of, along with a business name change: JAV Construction. I still love those piles of lumber, but so do my grandsons...maybe they'll want to follow in their Pappy's footsteps.
